My Business Card

So I began designing my business card as one of the last parts of my job-finding process, which includes other projects such as finishing my website, my resume and cover letters (all done thank you very much)! I have only designed a few designs so far and have now let the project rest for a while so that I can come back to it with more ideas, but I wanted to post the initial designs now. I find it very difficult to design something when the sky is the limit!!! I think I design more creatively and intelligently when there are limits set. Challenges are good! Here are the designs so far.

In the top 3 designs I was trying to convey the concept that a designer (me) would have of enlightening ideas and a quirky design sense (which I illustrated by slanting the text and using some unusual typefaces. I am not sure it is so important to have my photograph on the card, but I thought it might not hurt. We all remember faces much better than we remember names! Am I right? I’d be interested in some feedback on this issue.

In the 4th design, I was trying to incorporate the design from my resume…and try to visually connect the two.

And in the last 2 designs, I went off on another tangent, playing with the idea of word clouds and using that to showcase some key phrases about what I do. I think the reason I am not certain about these designs is because of the colors. Maybe too harsh? Too much black? But I am still smitten with the idea of the word clouds. Hmmmm…. still brainstorming!
