UDK Fashion Show in Berlin

Berlin Fashion Week Tent

I’ve been to my very first fashion show!

It all took place yesterday at this tent in the middle of Berlin on a warm summery evening. I was helping out at the student show (students of the UDK – Universität der Künste Berlin), on July 1st at 10 pm and my experience took place backstage where all the excitement, stress and 1 hour of craziness took place!

At the show, I assisted one of the graduating students with the production of her collection and getting her models dressed correctly. It was great to see how a show like that is put on, and it was indeed very professional for a student show, without any rehearsals! Before we had to get our models dressed, I had ample opportunity to take some photographs of the backstage going ons. It was a dream come true! For any of you that are fashion people, this may seem blasé, but for someone who has always loved fashion, but was never directly involved, like me, this was quite a treat.

In this post I have included my photographs of favorite outfits, crazy outfits and many photographs of the scuffle that took place backstage. It is quite amazing to think that there is one show going on out on the catwalk and an entirely different show of sorts going on backstage, and the models are the only ones that can truly experience both. But for me, backstage was the place to be! It was dramatic and stressful, but totally exciting to see all the amazing designs of the students up close and personal!

Unfortunately, I was only able to photograph these pieces coming off the runway, because I had to assist in the dressing. They are also a bit blurry, but in a kind of interesting way I think.

I see that this post is from a bit ago, so I hope this finds you. I found it while searching for UdK students. I am a photographer in the US and trying to find some UdK students to ask a few questions about programs and such. The website for UdK is kinda dry and doesn’t have too many resources to see the work that students have done. Hit me up if you have any ideas, nice pics from the fashion show btw.
    Thanks
