Olga Desmond … a very interesting woman indeed. I saw an exhibition of her work in Berlin a few months back, and shame on me, I haven’t posted about it until now. But I definitely wanted to post this. It was really incredible. Sometimes you get glimpses of pure raw art in the most unexpected places, such as in this small gallery I stepped into. Only spent 1 Euro too!

Yesterday I went to see Bodies in Urban Spaces created by Willi Dorner. It was part of the Tanz im August festival in Berlin. Check out his website for more info. It was so fun! My sister saw this piece in Philadelphia and suggested I go. I tried to go with my boyfriend on Friday, but the skies were a threatening gray and it had already begun to rain a bit. There was also a totally HUGE crowd (200 + people) and we didn’t want to have to leave our bikes where the performance began only to have to walk all the back afterward. So I decided to go back on Saturday and give it a go. This time the weather was perfect, but there was still quite the crowd! I was pretty shocked. Anyhow, it was pretty well organized and there were guides and police men all over. Don’t quite know if the police really needed guns on their belts, but whatevs…

The performance went from Potsdamer Platz all the way to Hallesches Tor through many green and overgrown backyards and playgrounds. I just couldn’t help trying to capture all the poses. They were so creative! And in some instances I think they had even coordinated the dancers and the colors of their outfits for the poses! Here are the pictures I took. read more…
